What we are

• A voluntary donor network: real people who said "call me" and reconfirm they're still ready.
• A directory of licensed blood centres, from Assam State Blood Transfusion Council lists.
• Independent, nonprofit, registered in Dibrugarh, built for all of Assam.

What we are not

• Not a blood bank. We do not collect, store, test or sell blood.
• Not a replacement for hospitals, donations happen at licensed centres only.
• Not a paid service. Donors are never paid; paying for blood is illegal in India.

How requests work

1. A relative submits a request (or calls us).
2. A coordinator verifies it by phone, no verification, no donor contact.
3. Compatible, active, consented donors near the hospital get one message with accept/decline.
4. The requester is connected with the donor and the licensed centre. Outcome recorded.

Donor phone numbers are never published. They unlock per-request, only after a donor accepts.

• Minimum data: no address, no Aadhaar, no medical records, no patient details, ever.
• Every outbound claim sourced. No exaggerated impact numbers.
• Donors can pause, export, or delete everything in one tap.
• Finances and policies on the transparency page as they exist.

Who started this

Assam Blood Donor was started in 2026 and is run by Madhurjya Sarmah, a backend engineer from Assam who has donated blood 18 times himself — and keeps counting. He builds and maintains the platform as a volunteer: no ads, no fees, no data selling. Meet the founder →
